some superfoods from last summer's garden |
Starting today, I will embark on a self-imposed trial for the coming month. Born loosely from a famous blog-turned-movie, I will attempt to use/create recipes and photos over the next 30 days that incorporate 30, calorie-sparse and nutrient-dense, so called "superfoods". Recently published nutritional guidelines suggest that, not only should you incorporate more vegetables and fruits into your diet, but that much of the food you eat should be non-processed and highly nutritious. Below are the list of superfoods (in no particular order) that were largely chosen from a magazine article I recently read. There are many others, but I thought these represented a diverse array of types that can easily be used. In fact, you'll notice that not all of these are even vegetables or fruits. When possible, I will try to combine at least two superfoods into a recipe. This will both increase the nutrition of the meal and reduce the stress that would likely result from making 30 separate dishes in such a short time. Believe it or not, this is suppose to be fun. So put down the Wonder bread (do they even make that anymore?), bypass the fast food place, ignore the frozen dinners, and join me. Feel free to provide suggestions on any recipes you'd like me to make.

I think it's a much better idea to try 30 superfoods in 30 days than go for 30 days of "super-sizing" yourself with fries and cheeseburgers. ;)
ReplyDeleteJust sorry to see you didn't include wheatgrass juice on the list. Mix some in with your Greek yogurt for me?
Indeed. We should sub-size our superfood rather than supersize our sub-food.
ReplyDeleteSince you're the second to recommend Wheatgrass juice. I'll be sure to add it to the mix. Thanks for the input!
